Lichtenstein Art Car

It was the paint scheme of this very car, which ignited my interest in the BMW Art Cars:
I assembled a 1/24 scale plastic model kit which I treasured for many years and I even painted a sweater and sneakers with this design – but this all a long way back….

When the idea came up, to make a painting of this car, I defined the principles of how all my following “Art Car paintings” should look like. Again, to only show the car was not enough for me. I wanted to include the work of creation, for which the artist is famous for. 

So for this one, I expanded the design of the car into the background – the sun and the flowing lines were predestinated for this. The driver is one of the figures from Lichtensteins paintings, and also the lady and the words fit perfectly into the scene. The painting gives a message all ladies (and gents) know too well!
